What an intense week.
The mapping festival is pretty much the best and the very unmissable event in Europe if you’re into visual art and interested in the post Vjing culture. They’ve been offering cutting edge content for the past 8 years, and the festival offers a mix of clubbing events, conferences and workshops, installations at the BAC (a contemporary Art gallery), architectural projections and outdoor events. This is also where I met most of my favorite artists, Legoman, 1024 architecture (formerly Exyzt), Quayola, UVA, Sigma6, and you’re likely to bump into many festival curators, who come to find the “next big thing” and upcoming visual artists.

“Score”, the sound of AntiVJ by Thomas Vaquie.

I am currently working on “Score”, an album that will feature a selection of pieces of music that I composed for architectural mapping and installation projects produced by AntiVJ. A release date is set for October 2012 and we are still in the process of looking for potential partners / label to help releasing the album on vinyl. Read more →

Cityscape 2095

Cityscape 2095 is the results from a collaboration with the illustrator Marc Ferrario aka Mandril. Though using different techniques of expression, our work is heavily influenced by architecture.

3Destruct at Scopitone 2011

3Destruct, an audio-visual installation by Yannick Jacquet, Jérémie Peeters and Thomas Vaquié was shown at the Lieu Unique October 12-16th 2011 as part of the Scopitone festival.

The 3Destruct project started in 2007, inspired in part by the wide-open yet claustrophobic space of an underground car park that the Biennale of Contemporary Art of Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium had offered. Since then, the project has been presented in other festivals: Mapping Festival in Geneva (2007); Image Radio, Eindhoven (2007), 100% Montpellier (2008); most recently Yota Space in Saint Petersburg (2010). Live Painting – Shackleton

After loads of travels and events abroad, I had a chance to get some rest for a couple of weeks, and stay a bit around Bristol..  I also realized that I haven’t played ‘at home’ for a while, so I was really pleased when I’ve been asked to do some visuals for a Dubstep night at the Croft, which is the place where I did my very first VJ set when I moved to UK, back in 2004.

The organisers were more after a “stage design” rather than a simple screen setup, so it was the perfect occasion to get further in the “live painting” experiments that I did in June.

Exyzt installation Ripped off by “the Killers”

EXYZT CUBE INSTALLATION:
At the end of last year, I’ve been blown away when I discovered Etienne de Crecy live installation at Transmusicales festival (Rennes / France), not that I’m particularly a huge fan of de Crecy’s music, but I found the “stage design” very impressive and unique.
The show is an hour of visual mapping and projections on a big cube, while de Crecy is playing live electronic music, and triggering the lights and visual sequences, standing in the middle cube, inside the installation.
